the hundreds project + attempt-at-not-quite-poetry: for Love!

All our hundred years of art and lit are merely degrees of elaborations on declarations of Love. What more is there to say? This is a call for Love. This is a call for a hundred more, of a hundred strokes and a hundred words, from a hundred people for a hundred more.

Call for submissions for The Hundreds Project

100: The Hundreds Project, a collection of 100 creative works, conceived by editors Adam David and Carljoe Javier, and presented by the UP Writers Club, is now out! My drabble, “Beyond Transit,” is included here, as well as 99 other pieces that explore the manifold aspects of love.

The book, available for only 220 pesos, may be picked up at the College of Arts and Letters, UP Diliman. For more details, contact: Rupert Bustamante IV (0917 844 5134; rupertivabustamante@yahoo.com) or Michelle Esquivias (0926 642 9158; ellie.esquivias@gmail.com).

For your entertainment, a badoodle in 100 words:

Leche: isang pagtatangka

Lecheng LSS ‘to sa alaala mo

lalo t’wing ako’y ganito:

tinatahak ang kabundukan,

nagmamasid, naghihintay

mga ulap ay makulayan

ng bukang-liwayway.

Subalit ngayon sa tabi ko’y wala ka,

tangan mo’y ‘di pipigil s’aking takot at kaba

na mahulog. Mahulog?

Oo nga pala—

ako sayo’y natisod na.

Ba’t ‘di malimutan ikaw na bulaan?

dagat man ang pagitan, dinama’t ‘di malisan

awit ng lumipas sa nakaraan.

Lecheng ka-kornihang ‘di maiwasan,

lecheng pangungulilang ‘di matahan!

Ako’y sawang-sawang-sawa na,

lunas sa kahibangan, hinahanap pa.

Marahil kung mas nakilala ka,

nakabisado iyong mga himig at letra

‘di paulit-ulit na kinakanta

itong mga linyang nakayayamot na.
